Profile - Sean Durden - Director
Sean Durden is a consultant to BCIS, the Building Cost Information Service of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
Sean has worked for a number of major UK insurers and loss adjusters over a 22 year period, managing national and regional teams of building reinstatement valuation surveyors and risk management surveyors.
In 2004 Sean developed the AXA Building Valuation Service whilst employed as their regional survey manager, receiving the AXA Award for Innovation at Blenheim Palace in 2005.
Following this innovative launch, Sean has been at the forefront of promoting the benefits of insurance valuations to insurers, brokers and associations with over £5billion of underinsurance subsequently being identified by various service providers of the top 5 UK insurers.

Sean is the principal surveyor and has responsibility for management of client relationships and new business development of Durden Valuations and Durden Risk Control Surveys.

Experience
With more than 20 years experience in the insurance industry, Sean originally specialised as a heritage valuation surveyor valuing churches and other Church of England properties in the Manchester Diocese for a leading UK insurer. Thereafter he gained significant experience providing reinstatement cost assessments of educational, healthcare and commercial / industrial properties, latterly specialising in sports stadia, including Premiership and Championship football stadia and major horse racing venues.
From 1997-1999 Sean acted as an insurance consultant to the Manchester Diocese sitting on the major alterations to churches, buildings committee.
Sean has been employed by 3 major UK insurers as a commercial property / specialist liability risk control surveyor and regional survey manager, before moving to a firm of loss adjusters as their national valuation services manager.
He has worked on insurance valuation and risk management projects exceeding £100m with experience of completing fire prevention surveys and health and safety assessments of construction sites. In 2006 Sean completed risk management surveys of industrial estates throughout Holland for a major UK insurer.
